Missy Hoohaw Does The Big K

I've sent my middle one off to Kindergarten and oh hades, am I weepy. We went as a family unit, minus the teen, who is enjoying one last week of sleeping until noon. Missy greeted her teacher, showed off her the new shoes and ran to the swings. She met a new friend and when the bell was rung, went to stand in line like a big girl, looking back to wave at her poor mommy, but then greeting the teacher again and walking into the room without a care. It is the start of a grand new adventure for her and I am excited, but sad. Mostly because Red doesn't start for another three weeks and I'm not sure I can wait that long to have the house to myself.

In the car, on the way, raisin face smile firmly in place. I don't know why she does this. It drives me bazonkers.

In front of the kindergarten door, again with the raisin face. Again with the bazonkers.

There were more photos. One of her walking hand in hand to the line with her new friend, one of her waving to me while walking away, one of Big Red, prostrate in the car because we left Missy behind. But my memory card is tweaking out and those files are reading as damaged, so you're all spared the gory details.

Time flies, y'all.

I bawled like a baby when I took Bee to kindergarten, but I managed to hold back at least until I got to the car.

Missy looks like such a big girl now! She'll love kindergarten. Is Red going to preschool this year? You'll have the house all to yourself! I can't even imagine that. The only time I've ever been alone is the weeks between when Bee started preschool and Cakes was born. It was very short-lived, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

One of the Ponder children washed out of Kgarten after nine weeks and I homeschooled the rest of the year. (Undiagnosed dyslexia). While I (PTO pres and co-chair of the District Bond Committee) was filling out the withdrawal papers at the district the superintendent came up behind me - talk about embarrassing! So sorry, yes, I'll raise money and speak before mtgs. but you aren't going to teach this child!

awww, im so happy for her, u and ur whole family! time sure is flying by for u guys. I understand the whole weeping part, my mom has finally come to terms with me going to college a year early for my senior year (after these next 9 months of Junior year of course) and realizing that the bird will soon be leaving the nest haha.

be sure to update on how her first day was!

Wow - I see A LOT of blog posts coming from this new road in your lives. What will you do when Red starts? . . . Oh, come to think of it . . . I can imagine how that could play out!

Welcome to My World

It's a crazy one. Here's the guide.

Mr. Clairol: My darling husband and love of my life. He's a mechanic, dyes his hair platinum blond and drives to work on a Vespa. I swear he isn't gay.

Drama Queen: My fourteen year old daughter who is frighteningly brilliant and gorgeous to boot. Of course, I am her mother.

Missy Hoohaw: The four year old daughter. She loves animals and roughhousing and earned her name by being a 28 year old Marine in a preschooler's body. No, she doesn't swear and drink. But she can run twenty miles in the rain and give a mighty Hoo-rah.

Big Red: Our toddler son, who is redheaded and proud of it. He's got a healthy temper and the sweetest smile this side of the Mississippi, so it evens out. I was worried about defending him from his sisters at first. Now, I worry about the girls.

The Beast: Our dog, who is a mutt, heavy on the Great Dane. He's named after a heavy metal guitarist in my husband's all time favorite band. This says it all, believe me.

This is my life. Try not to be too jealous.

Look At All These BEE-YOU-TEE-FUL People!
